Well-known for their all-terrain strollers, the guys and girls working at Mountain Buggy decided to step out of the mountain ranges and go urban. With the compact, lightweight pushchairs being all the rage at the moment, the company decided to make a lightweight stroller that all mothers will love for its low weight and compact construction.

Its name is Mountain Buggy Nano, and its main selling feature is the fact that it folds small enough that it can fit in overhead lockers in airplanes. Pretty impressive, wouldn’t you say?

Even though it’s quite small, Nano still comes with features that most people wouldn’t expect to find on a stroller of this size. The model has a very roomy, comfortable seat, a 3-point harness restraint system, an adjustable footrest, a large mesh window, lockable EVA wheels, a sizeable storage basket, as well as the flip-flop friendly brake.

In case you’re expecting and looking for a lightweight pushchair that’s packed with convenient features, the Nano just might be your best choice. If you’d like to know more about it, keep on reading and find out everything about its features. We’ll be taking a detailed look at the model and analyze all of its characteristics.

Specifications:

  • Stroller weight – 13 lbs

  • Weight limit  – 44 lbs

  • Folded dimensions   – 20″ x 12″ x 22″

  • Handlebar bar height – 38.5″

  • Gender  – Unisex

  • Wheels –  6″

Features

  • Fold

As we already mentioned, the primary selling feature of this stroller is its super compact fold – that’s what Mountain Buggy Nano is all about. It easily fits into an overhead compartment on airplanes, and, when stored in the trunk of the car, it leaves enough space for the storage of other items. As you can already guess, this makes it an excellent choice for the parents who travel frequently.

Folding this pushchair is very easy, although it requires the use of both hands. It can, however, be unfolded with a single hand, and also has a standing fold and an automatic lock. Nano’s folded dimensions are 20″ x 12″ x 22″.

  • Seat

The seat present on this buggy measures 26″ from its back to the top of the canopy and is 13″ wide. The canopy is exceptionally tall, which means that even the tallest kids will have plenty of headroom. However, the mesh on the back will prevent you to recline the seat with a taller toddler on board. The seat accommodates children up to 44 pounds of weight and six months of age.

  • Canopy

Due to the model’s small size and low weight, its canopy is also on the smaller side. Parents who are spoiled by the huge sunshades that reach all the way down to the bumper bar will undoubtedly be disappointed with the canopy of Mountain Buggy Nano.

The model’s sunshade is attached to the frame and has no peek-a-boo window, although it does have a small pop-out sun visor and a mesh window in the back. When it’s pulled all the way back, the canopy is rubbing the parent’s hands – this happens because of the handlebar’s low position and the canopy’s extreme height.

Window

As we said, there’s a mesh window located in the back between the seat back and the canopy. Its purpose is to provide your kid with the necessary air circulation on the hot summer days. However, it has no cover, which means that your child will be exposed to the gusts of wind on chilly days.

A simple Velcro closure would quickly fix this problem and it wouldn’t add any noticeable weight to the overall weight of the stroller – it’s a real mystery why didn’t the manufacturer supplement one.

Wheels

This pushchair has four 6″ EVA wheels, with the front ones swiveling for greater maneuverability. The front wheels can be locked in place, letting the parent push the stroller over rougher terrain. Moreover, the model’s rear wheels are entirely removable – de- attaching them allows an even more compact fold.

The size of the wheels is a pretty standard one, with the model being easy to maneuver and producing no weird sounds when it’s pushed on flat surfaces. Even though it’s made by a company that’s well-known for all-terrain strollers; the Nano should be used only in urban environments.

Handlebar, footrest & brakes

The model’s handle is situated at the height of 38.5″ (from the ground) and is a bit on the lower side, which might prove to be problematic for taller parents. It is also non-adjustable. The footrest is adjustable, however, and provides lots of room for the kid to stretch his or her legs.

The brake deserves some special words of praise. It has two large, brightly colored buttons – the red one locks the stroller’s wheels in place while and the blue button releases them. The brake is flip-flop friendly, which means that using it in the middle of the summer is as hassle-free as it gets.

Storage Basket

Although not the largest one out there, the storage basket found on Nano is of an impressive size for such a lightweight pushchair. Because of the model’s design, the basket can be accessed only from the front side.

What’s wrong with the product?

– Issues with the canopy

Not only is the model’s canopy a bit on the smaller side, but it also touches the parent’s hands when it’s pulled all the way to the back.

– Mesh window has no cover

The model’s large mesh window comes without a cover, which means that the kid will be somewhat exposed to the cold wind. A simple Velcro cover would quickly solve this issue, but since the manufacturer didn’t include one, you’ll have to use a blanket.

Conclusion

For parents who are constantly on the move and often on the road, this pushchair will be a revelation. The Mountain Buggy Nano Stroller is one of the most compact models available and easily fits into most car trunks and overhead compartments on planes.

It comes with almost all functionalities of the regular strollers and is, therefore, one of the most compelling choices for the traveling parents.
