When it comes to all terrain stroller, the Baby Jogger Summit X3 is undoubtedly among the best-selling models. An award-winning product, this stroller easily overcomes even the roughest terrain due to its air-filled tires and all-wheel suspension. Fortunately, that is not the only good thing about, as it also comes with all those features that every parent wants to have in a stroller.

Even though it was made for rough terrains, the Summit X3 is exceptionally easy to navigate and steer. It’s a genuine one-hand stroller, especially when we consider the fact that it also allows one-hand fold, which is quite impressive.

Other remarkable features of this model include things like adjustable tracking, huge basket, roomy seat, and a large canopy (with two viewing windows), although there is no adjustable handlebar or automatic lock. The model can accommodate children from birth up to 9 years of age (75 pounds), and it can also be used with infant car seats right from birth.

Although its price is a bit on a higher end, the Summit X3 undoubtedly deserves to be considered for purchase by anyone looking for a quality all-terrain stroller. In the following paragraphs, we’ll analyze its features and try to find out its value for the money.

  • Folded dimensions  – 33.5″ x 25.5″ x 15.5″

Features

  • Wheels

Wheels are among the most important parts of every all-terrain stroller, as they’re the main reason why these strollers can be used on a variety of surfaces. On Baby Jogger Summit x3, the front wheel is 12″ and the two back wheels are 16″. All three of them feature pneumatic tires with inflatable rubber, letting moms and dads push this buggy on urban sidewalks, but also on beaches and mountain trails.

The frontal wheel can be either locked or put into a swivel position. There is also the so-called alignment feature, which, as the name suggests, allows correction of the path in case the model veers to one side while the frontal wheel is locked. Moreover, there is also an independent all-wheel suspension, which is yet another feature that makes this model suitable for all kinds of terrains.

  • Fold

Talking about this model is impossible without mentioning one of its most remarkable features – the fold. All it takes to fold it down is to pull up on a strap over the seat (which can be done with just one hand), and the stroller will fold in half.

Fortunately, there is a unique storage strap that keeps the model locked while it’s folded. While folded, the Summit X3 doesn’t take too much space in the trunk, at least when compared with the other all-terrain strollers.

  • Brakes

Along with the foot brake (which, by the way, is not flip-flop friendly), the model features a handbrake that’s situated on the handle. Some parents might find it to be quite stiff for pressing, although this is pretty easy to adjust with an alien wrench. For jogging, there is also a wrist strap available – it is attached to the foot brake.

  • Handle Bar

The handle bar of this pushchair is fixed (not adjustable) at 40″, which might be somewhat high for some parents. One particularly noteworthy thing about it is that it’s coated with a rubber cover, which doesn’t only provide comfort for the hands but is also very easy to keep clean.

Some models feature foam handle bars which, over time, absorb sweat and become very slippery and stinky. Fortunately, that is not the case on this model.

  • Seat

The seat of this model is quite a roomy one and can accommodate children up to 75 pounds of weight. In our opinion, high weight capacity is among the most crucial features of every good stroller – older kids (~7 years of age) often can’t keep up which is when you can just take them with you in a buggy.

The seat is 14.5″ wide and measures 24″ from the top of the canopy to its back. The footrest, which is not adjustable, is 9 inches high. The material used for the seat’s manufacture is of high quality and very easy to keep clean – moms of messier babies will undoubtedly appreciate this.

  • Canopy

This manufacturer never disappoints with canopies, and Baby Jogger Summit x3 is no exception to this rule. The canopy of this buggy is quite large and is more than capable of providing full sun coverage no matter if it’s morning, noon, or evening. It consists of three sections and has two viewing windows with Velcro closures, which are not as great as the magnetic closures but still serve the purpose.

  • Storage

Just like many other all-terrain buggies, this one also has a sizeable mesh pocket located on the back of the seat. As there is no parent console on Summit X3, this pocket is very convenient when it comes to storing small items such as keys, sunglasses, cell phones, etc.

Of course, there is also a large basket underneath the seat, which can be accessed from both the sides and the back of the model.

Baby Jogger Summit X3 Single Stroller

What’s wrong with the product?

– No standing fold

The fact that this buggy has no standing fold somewhat diminishes the one-hand fold – the parent has to use his other hand to have it locked and bent down to be able to put it into the trunk. It would be much more convenient if the buggy had a standing fold.

– The handle bar is not adjustable

This is a much more serious issue, as it could easily be a deal breaker for taller or shorter parents.

Conclusion

The sheer number of this model’s advantages effortlessly outweighs the number of its (minor) flaws. The Baby Jogger Summit x3 is, in our opinion, a fantastic pushchair, and an excellent way for transportation of your child no matter the terrain. If you’re in a market for a quality all-terrain stroller, this model should be among your top contenders.
